Claims, hearings and appeals

A person already in Canada may claim protection, and that claim is decided by the Immigration and Refugee Board rather than by IRCC. The Board holds a hearing, and some decisions can afterwards be appealed to its Refugee Appeal Division. The articles below describe how those stages fit together.
