Why It Matters
Only Regulated Representatives Can Charge Fees for Immigration Advice
Under Canadian law, only authorized persons (registered lawyers, Notaries in Quebec, and Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants (RCICs) registered with the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, or CICC) may provide immigration advice for a fee.
Check a paid representative's authorization before sharing documents or paying fees. Unauthorized advice can expose applicants to fraud and incorrect submissions. The consequences of inaccurate information depend on the circumstances and the applicable law. Verify any consultant you hire at the CICC public register.
